POPPIES & EUCALYPTUS was inspired by a hillside along the Malibu coast I saw some time ago while on a pleinair painting trip to So. California.  It was evening and the sun was getting low on the horizon as the ocean fog off the Pacific was beginning to roll in.  I was attracted by the large grouping of eucalyptus near the top of the hill and the patterns of evening light and shadows that played upon them.  I included the poppies from other sources to add additional color interest to the scene.
