COUNTRY ROAD was inspired by a recent trip I made to California to paint the varieties of atmosphere and landscapes so unique to this part of our great country.  The areas near the coast at certain times of the year are frequented by early morning and early evening fog that slides in the from the sea as the cooler air is drawn in from the warmer temperatures inland.  I love how the heavy atmosphere simplifies the shapes of the trees and the landscape; perfect for the plein air painter who seeks to capture those fleeting moments and mystical feelings it invokes.
